At the 35th Session of the Serbski Sejm in Drachhausen
On 10 September, the Serbski Sejm met in Drachhausen, at the „Goldener Drachen“, for a lively exchange of ideas.
One of the main topics of discussion was the petition for the continuation of the federal programme Sprachkitas, which the Serbski Sejm supports in solidarity.
In order to achieve more self-determination and free personal development also for our Sorbs and Wends living in Lusatia, the Serbski Sejm has been working on a state treaty for some time. In this context, the report of the Council of Europe on the situation of minorities in Germany and the planned amendment of the Saxon Sorbs Act were also discussed.
In order to protect our traditional basis of life, the Serbski Sejm supported the introduction of a motion to reject nuclear waste in Lusatia, in particular because the burdens for energy security are to be shared by the entire Federal Republic and great sacrifices have already been demanded from our people for energy security.
Furthermore, the plenum agrees that a new election of the Serbski Sejm should be prepared so that the political interests of the Sorbian/Wendish people can be represented even more diversely and with new strength.
At the same time, the Serbski Sejm took the opportunity of the Open Museums Day to visit the museum of local history in Drachhausen. In a cheerful atmosphere, folk dances were performed and the meeting came to an wonderful end.
